Fourth Play-Off Spot Chase to Continue in Aberdeen

Play the Pro Darts Scorer

THE 2025 BetMGM Premier League season continues on Thursday, as the penultimate night of league phase action takes place in Aberdeen.

The P&J Live will play host to Night 15 of this year’s competition on Thursday May 15, as the race for Play-Off qualification continues on Scottish soil.

Luke Littler, Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price have already confirmed their Play-Off places, with one more spot at The O2 in London still up for grabs.

Seven-time Premier League champion Michael van Gerwen currently occupies that fourth position going into Night 15, with Nathan Aspinall one point adrift in fifth.

Van Gerwen and Aspinall will go head-to-head in the evening’s opener, in a contest that could have significant ramifications for both players.

Aspinall has won three of the pair’s four meetings in this year’s roadshow, and the Stockport star will move back into the Play-Off positions with victory over Van Gerwen on Thursday.

Van Gerwen, meanwhile, can confirm his Play-Off qualification if he secures his first nightly victory of the campaign in Aberdeen, having been the runner-up in Cardiff and Birmingham.

The winner of Thursday’s opening clash will play either Price or Stephen Bunting, who collide in the evening’s second quarter-final.

2023 runner-up Price will make his second Play-Off appearance later this month, having claimed a hat-trick of nightly wins in Dublin, Nottingham and Liverpool this season.

“The pressure is off a bit now, but I still want to win,” insisted Price, who could be set to experiment with a new set-up as he continues his preparation for The O2.

“I might be using a new set of darts tomorrow night and next week, but we’ll see how I feel tomorrow.

“I’m not feeling the grip quite right with my own darts, but I’ve got nothing to lose so it could be a good opportunity to use a new set of darts on the biggest of stages.

“I believe if my play my A-game, then there’s no way I will lose. Every time I go on stage I expect to bring my best game out, but it doesn’t always happen!”

Bunting, meanwhile, memorably defeated Price in the Berlin final last month to celebrate his solitary nightly win so far this season, although he is now playing for pride after his hopes of a top four finish were ended in Leeds.

Humphries came out on top on Night 14 at the First Direct Arena, defeating Van Gerwen, Bunting and Littler to secure his third nightly win of the season and preserve his slender hopes of securing top spot.

The world number one now trails table-topper Littler by seven points, and he will have the opportunity to further reduce that deficit when they renew their rivalry in the quarter-finals.

Littler will top the league phase for a second straight year if he defeats Humphries, who admits that he already has one eye on Play-Offs in a fortnight.

“You know have to raise your game against Luke,” admitted Humphries, who has won three of his six games against Littler in this year’s competition.

“You have to perform at a really high level otherwise you won’t have a chance.

“When I played Luke in Newcastle I had no answer to his performance, but when I’m at my best, I know I can push him.

“Winning in Leeds last week will give me great confidence, but the goal now is to be Premier League champion. Whatever happens in the next two weeks, that’s my focus.”

Elsewhere in Aberdeen, Chris Dobey and Rob Cross will also do battle, with both players aiming to maintain their slender Play-Off hopes.

Dobey must win each of the last two league nights to have any chance of securing a top four berth, while Cross must also reach his first nightly final of 2025 to keep alive any hopes of snatching a Play-Off place.

Ranking points are awarded per night – with five to the winner, three to the runner-up and two to the semi-finalists – to form the league table from which the top four players will progress to the Play-Offs at The O2 in London on Thursday May 29.

The 2025 BetMGM Premier League will be broadcast live on Sky Sports in the UK & Ireland, through the PDC’s worldwide broadcast partners including DAZN and Viaplay, and on PDCTV for Rest of the World Subscribers (outside of the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria & Switzerland).
