McGuirk Sitting Pretty for MODUS Finale Place?

Play the Pro Darts Scorer

At the halfway stage, Ireland’s Shane McGuirk leads the MODUS Super Series Group B race, picking up three wins to stamp his intentions for qualification.

The reigning WDF World Champion kicked things off nicely with a 4–2 win over Sam Spivey. McGuirk followed that up with emphatic 4–1 victories over Scott Campbell and Lee Cocks. Unfortunately, his chase for a clean sweep was tripped up, losing the all-important last-leg decider to Carl Wilson in his final game.

Still, he’s sitting pretty on top – a nice place to be. You’d think the man nicknamed The Arrow will be shooting his way into one of the top three spots progressing to tomorrow’s final night. However, he won’t be counting his chickens just yet.

Hot on his heels with two wins apiece are the trio of Wilson, Cocks, and Campbell, who can be satisfied with their evening’s work. Carl Wilson holds second place courtesy of leg difference, leading that advantage over the other two by a swing of five.

Sam Spivey has his work cut out later, picking up just one win last night to leave him bottom of the pile on two points. The 29-year-old’s sole triumph came in a tense 4–3 shoot-out win against Carl Wilson.

The show opener just after 10pm this evening sees Scott Campbell face Carl Wilson. A win for Gok would put him level with McGuirk on six points, but due to the Irishman’s superior leg advantage, even a whitewash would leave him in second. However, with the Tunbridge Wells resident’s second outing coming against The Arrow, he could be doing a bit of leap-frogging to top the charts before midnight.

It’s still all to play for. Three will hang around Pompey for tomorrow evening’s climax – and two will be heading home. But who will be in which boat? It all makes for a dramatic MODUS Super Series night of darts.
