Over the past weekend, the INDO Irish Grand Prix 2025 delivered three days of top-class darts action in Dundalk, Co. Louth.
Organised, as always, by the hard-working Irish National Darts Organisation, the tournament festival attracted players from across the country, showcasing both established stars and emerging talent in an event that lived up to its billing as one of the highlights of the nation’s darting calendar.
The weekend began with youth and development events on Friday and Saturday, providing a platform for Ireland’s rising stars. Taking the Boys title was Charlie Doherty from Donegal, who emphatically defeated Evan Tuite 4-0. In the Girls category, Rebecca Eleanor Allen sealed victory by the same scoreline against Ruby Grace. Development Tour honours went to local lad Dylan Quinn from Omeath, who was a 4-2 winner over the equally impressive Dylan Dowling.
Dublin’s Katie Sheldon underlined her reputation as one of Ireland’s premier female players, cleaning up with both Ladies’ titles – much to the frustration of Girls champion Allen, who had to settle for the runner-up spot on both occasions. Sheldon’s consistency in both events earned widespread admiration, and she left Dundalk with another two major trophies to her name.
The Men’s Grand Prix accolade went to Stephen Rosney, who defeated Dale McCarthy 6-3 in the final. The Tipperary thrower looked in fine form as he powered his way to lift the cup.
McCarthy did at least have something to smile about – despite losing to a bloke nicknamed Chuckles, he claimed victory in the ranking event, overcoming Mark Cullen by the same 6-3 scoreline.
On a weekend that culminated with both Emerald Isle nations shining on World Cup duty, the 2025 Irish Grand Prix proved a fitting celebration, combining grassroots development with elite competition. The success of players like Rosney, Sheldon, and McCarthy ensures that Ireland’s rich sporting tradition remains in good hands.
Organisers hailed the event as a major success, both in terms of participation and standard of play, with plans already underway for an even bigger edition in 2026.
