Gemma Hayter was victorious on Saturday as she was crowned the winner of Women’s Week Four at the MODUS Super Series, after defeating Robyn Byrne in the final and claiming the £5,000 top prize.
Hayter, who entered the finale having finished 2nd in Group B on Thursday and Friday, began the night by winning both of her group phase matches, as she defeated Kirsty Hutchinson and Kirsi Viinikainen to progress through to the Semi Finals, where at that stage she came up against Laura Turner, and from there, Hayter whitewashed her compatriot, 3-0, to book her place in the final.
In the decider, Hayter came up against Robyn Byrne, who’d defeated Viinikainen in the last four, and nothing separated the pair throughout the tie until Hayter sealed the victory in a last leg decider at 3-2 to defeat her Irish opponent and join Rhian O’Sullivan, Kirsi Viinikainen and Lisa Ashton in the roll of honour of Women’s Week winners as well as collecting the £5,000 first prize.
The MODUS Super Series returns on Monday with the start of Week Seven of Series 11, with the field to be announced in due course.
Play will commence from 9:30am BST and will be streamed live on the MODUS YouTube channel, Pluto TV or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
