Top Two Trade Blows in ADC Rankings

Red Dragon Darts

Adam Atkinson is just 120 points off ADC Number 1 Matt Jackson in the Amateur Darts Circuit rankings after winning the North Ormesby Open on Saturday, beating ADC Number 5 Adam Warner 5-1 in the Final.

The Terriers Title holder struggled to deal with the Poolie in the Final, after averaging 101.63 and including a 12 darter in the third leg, hitting a 140 finish for a 3-0 lead and hold of throw. The Englishman went on to break throw in the sixth leg and win the tournament in Teesside, earning 64 ranking points to take his tally to 1221.

Matt Jackson responded well though to his nearest challenger’s success, winning the October Old Ball Grand Slam of Darts. The Action clinched the eleventh and deciding leg to beat Jenson Walker 6-5 in the Final in Coventry.

Youngster Walker enjoyed a strong run in the ADC Championship Tour 4 Plate Knockout tournament and performed to a similar level on Saturday topping his group before beating Jamie Verdasz and AJ Urmston-Toft to reach the Final.

The 38-year-old claimed 32 points after beating Andy Tucker 5-2 in the Semis before his win over the young Englishman in the Final, keeping himself adrift from Atkinson at the top of the rankings.

ADC Championship Tour 6 finalist Adam Warner distanced himself from Geoff Murray in sixth after his run in Middlesbrough this weekend, earning 32 points to move onto 660 points, 61 clear of Murray and now 83 off Tony Wood in fourth, the first and only player to hit a nine-darter so far in the Amateur Darts Circuit.

With the Grand Finals this month, an opportunity comes for bragging rights and ranking points, but before seeing more tournaments including the York Darts Promotions Round Robin and the Croxley Open scheduled for next Saturday.
