Mark McGeeney and Paul Linwood took the early lead on Thursday in ending Day 1 of their respective groups, top, as they look to join Johnny Haines in the Saturday’s finale at the Modus Super Series.
McGeeney, known as The Gladiator, who entered Group C having finished 5th in Group A earlier in the week, took the early lead by completing a clean sweep with five wins from five, as he recorded victories over Vince Tipple, Mark Lawrence, Darryl Fitton, Adam Lipscombe and Tony O’Shea, dropping just six legs along the way.
Elsewhere, three players in Mark Lawrence, Adam Lipscombe and Darryl Fitton ended the day 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively on 6 points, with Tony O’Shea sitting in 5th on 2 points and Vince Tipple bottom on 0 points, having suffered five defeats from five.
In Group B, Debutant Paul Linwood took the early lead, after winning three of his four matches on Thursday evening, as he recorded victories over Terry Jenkins, Richard Stride and Kevin Edwards, with his only defeat coming against Neil Duff, who also ended the night on 6 points, but sits in 2nd on leg difference.
Elsewhere, Kevin Edwards ended the evening in 3rd on 4 points, whilst Richard Stride and Terry Jenkins sit 4th and 5th respectively on 2 points each, heading into the 2nd and final session of Group B on Friday.
Modus Super Series continues on Friday with players continuing to battle out as they aim to join Johnny Haines in Saturday’s finale, with McGeeney and Linwood taking the early lead thus far. Group C will commence from 9:30am GMT and Group B will commence from 10pm GMT. Play will be streamed live on the Modus YouTube channel, Sporty Stuff TV or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
