The 2023 World Seniors Darts Championship draw was screened live yesterday and has thrown up some intriguing encounters. Three-time World Champion and WSDT ambassador John Lowe conducted the draw for this year’s event which will take place between February 9-12 at the iconic Circus Tavern in Purfleet.
16-time World Champion, Phil Taylor faces a tough opening test in ‘The Chief’ Colin McGarry. Meanwhile, Champion and No.1 seed Robert Thornton will take on, former UK Open Champion, Roland Scholten in the first round.
Possible thrillers include Glen Durrant vs a resurgent Mark Dudbridge and John Part taking on the hugely popular Co Stompe. Richie Howson, a breakthrough player at last year’s event who is local and hugely popular with the crowd will engage World Seniors Master David Cameron.
WDF reigning World Champion Neil Duff will tackle 4 Time Women’s World Champion Lisa Ashton. Former Players Champion and World (PDC) finalist Kevin Painter will attempt to keep Rocket Ronnie Baxter in check and debutant Leonard Gates will take his bow against Lakeside favourite Tony O’Shea.
Terry Jenkins, a semi-finalist in the inaugural event, will begin this campaign facing off against Chris Mason.
