Raymond Smith was victorious on Saturday as he crowned the winner of Champions Week at the Modus Super Series, after defeating Matt Clark in the final and picking himself up a record £20,000 in prize money.
Smith, who entered the finale having finished 3rd in Group B on Thursday & Friday, won just one of his group phase matches, as he won his opener against Alexander Merkx, before suffering a defeat to Scott Walters. However, the Aussie still progressed through to the Semi Finals, where he came up against Adam Mould, and whitewashed the ADC Qualifier 4-0 to book his place in the final.
In the decider, Smith came up against Matt Clark, who’d defeated Scott Walters 4-3 in the previous round, and ‘The Guru’ defeated ‘Superman’ in a last leg decider 4-3, sealing the victory with a 15 darter to clinch the title, picking up the £20,000 first prize and becoming the second winner of the Modus Super Series, joining Conan Whitehead, who won Stage One back in October .
The Modus Super Series returns on Monday with the start of Week 1 of Stage Three, with the first of three days of Group A commencing, with the field to be announced in due course. Play will commence from 9:30am GMT and will be streamed live on the Modus YouTube channel, Sporty Stuff TV or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
