Ward Prevents Stone Maximum

Gary Stone secured his place in Saturday’s finale on Wednesday, after winning three of his five matches to end his Group A campaign, top, as the field was confirmed for Groups B and C at the Modus Super Series.

Stone, who entered Wednesday’s play on an incredible 20 points from the opening two days of Group A, began with two more wins as he looked to become the first player to win a maximum of 15 matches and 30 points in Group A. It was not to be for the Scot as he went down 2-4 to Harry Ward in his third match of the day.

In the end Stone won three matches from five to top the group overall, as he recorded victories over Lee Shewan, Andy Boulton and Robert Rickwood, with his first two defeats of the week coming against Ward and Martin Adams, to end on 26 points from a possible 30.

Elsewhere, Andy Boulton and Harry Ward will compete in Group B, after the pair finished 2^nd and 3^rd respectively, with Boulton ending on 18 points and Ward on 16 points. The duo will be joined on Thursday and Friday Evening by Scott Walters, Alan Tabern and Ryan Palmer.

Lee Shewan, Martin Adams and Robert Rickwood will all compete in Group C, after finishing 4^th, 5^th and 6^th respectively overall, with Shewan and Adams ending on 12 points each and Rickwood on 6 points. The trio will be joined on Thursday and Friday Morning by Kevin Dowling, Scott Taylor and Mike Norton

Modus Super Series continues on Thursday with Group C commencing from 9:30am GMT and Group B commencing from 10pm GMT. Play will be streamed live on the Modus YouTube channel, Sporty Stuff TV or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
