Jim Long was victorious on Saturday as he was crowned the winner of Week Two at the Modus Super Series, after defeating Shane Hayward in the final to secure a place in Champions Week and winning the weekly £5,000 top prize.
Long, who entered the finale having won Group B on Thursday and Friday, began the night by winning both of his group phase matches, as he defeated Chris Quantock and Shane Hayward to progress through to the Semi Finals.
The Canadian he then came up against Mareno Michels. Ontario native Long dispatched the Dutchman, 4-1, to book his place in the final.
In the decider, the Canadian came up against Shane Hayward for the second time on the night, who’d defeated Justin Hood in the last four. The ADC qualifier had had a truly superb week and looked likely to join Adam Warner and Mould in going straight through to Champions week at the first attempt.
But, once again, Long was victorious as he came through a last leg shootout to defeat Hayward, 4-3, to join Tom Sykes in Champions Week, as well as pocketing the £5,000 first prize.
The Modus Super Series returns on Monday for the start of Week Three and the first of three days of Group A commencing, with the field including the Series Seven Champion Andreas Harrysson.
Play will commence from 9:30am BST and will be streamed live on the Modus YouTube channel or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
