One of the country’s oldest darts leagues, the Four Oaks and District League, have got their new season underway with a healthy twenty-two teams split into two equal divisions.
Two teams are topping the division one table Old Horns Lions and Nomads @ Hollyfields who in turn with 6-3 results accounted for Charley’s Flights and Walmley CSC Flights, both winning teams playing away, A.Heslip having a 160 break for Old Horns Lions. Three teams are chasing the top two sides Bishop Vesey, Rise Club and Highcroft Hotdogs who were all 5-4 winners playing against Old Oscott Arrows, Plough and Arrows and Heartlands with Matthew Cain scoring a maximum for Heartlands.
Erdington Arrows are clear leaders of division two after kicking-off their new campaign with a convincing 8-1 win away to Sutton Sports. Both St Thomas Arrows and Beggars Bush share the number two spot after St Thomas Arrows won the local derby with St Thomas Misfits and Beggars Bush won at Deer’s Leap.

The Sheldon and District Summer League played off the semi-finals of their League Cup in which group one champions Langley Arrows were held to a close 4-3 win by Old Salts Darts who are currently second in group three, Mick McFall in top form for Old Salts Darts with two maximums and two eleven darts games. Joining Langley Arrows in the final at Langley Hall Sports and Social Club on Thursday 26th September will be Raven Arrows who are second in group one, they had a more convincing 6-1 win over Sheldon Marlborough Ridge who are third in group three.
There were three rearranged league fixtures played, two from group two which saw Kingshurst Labour Club despite home advantage and a 180 from their Stephen Shepherd lose 5-3 to group leaders Trident Spears, the win giving them a two points lead over second in the group Banbury Club with just one more fixture to play. The other group two game saw Hornet hold Banbury Club to a 4-4 draw to see them move off the foot of the table and be replaced by EBAHA.
The group four rearranged fixture saw Moseley Rugby Club win their home game with Sheldon Marlborough Flights 7-1 to take them top of the group with fourteen points from nine games while former leaders and now placed second Raven are on thirteen points from eight games.

The Camp Hill League have had lots of finals being played off of late, first the Consolation Singles Knockout at Tysley WMC which saw only twenty of the scheduled thirty-four players turn up, nevertheless that did not detract from the quality of play or support on the night as Clumsy Swan’s Shay Darby accounted for Wakefield Warriors man Jason Jennings in the final.
Next on the agenda were the Captains and Secretaries Cups in which the Captain’s title went to Dave Heighway from Tyseley Bears with Erdington Nomads player Simon Edwards, runner-up. Taking the honours in the Secretaries Cup was Freddie Naylor (Erdington Nomads) who defeated Michael Forsyth (Tyseley Bears) in the final.
The League Cup final brought together the league’s top two teams, champions Wakefield Warriors and runners-up Cotterills Lane EBAHA Club with the 5-2 result going to Wakefield Warriors to make it a tremendous double for the season.
The Consolation Cup title went to Clumsy Swan who had a 5-2 win in the final against Tyseley Bears.

It was League Cup semi-finals week in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League which produced a shock result for league leaders Old Liberal Club who in the league are undefeated having won all thirty of the games they have played so far but despite that they finished on the wrong side of the 4-3 result against second in the league Princess. Not only did the top two teams play each other but also the fourth and fifth teams squared up to each other with fourth placed Five Ways handing out a 5-0 defeat to Netherton Conservative Club ‘B’.
There was one rearranged league fixture played this week in which Glasscutters ‘A’ recorded a 6-1 home win over Crestwood, the home side remaining eighth in the table while the losers dropped one place to eleventh.

Horseley Tavern ‘A’ suffered a 6-1 defeat playing away against Cottage Spring in the latest round of fixtures in the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League and as a result they dropped two places in the table to seventh while their victors moved up one place to fifth. League leaders Vine ‘A’ made it twenty-one wins in twenty-two games when they added their latest 6-1 win playing away against bottom of the table Horseley Tavern ‘B’ keeping intact their six points lead over second third placed Allen’s Bar and Tamebridge, Allen’s Bar winning 4-3 at Three Horseshoes who are fourth in the league, their thirty-two points ten fewer than the leaders and Tamebridge who won 6-1 at Sow and Pigs.

The win, their fifteenth in sixteen games, gives them a four points lead over Roebuck ‘A’, Maverick and Roebuck ‘B’ who are all on twenty-six points with Roebuck ‘B’ having played one game fewer than the three teams above them. As Five Ways ‘A’ reached the midway point of the season in the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League they stretched their unbeaten run in the league to sixteen games when they won 5-2 at home against Garibaldi. Although with a perfect record so far Five Ways ‘A’ are still only two points better off than their nearest rivals Old Liberal Club ‘A’ who won by the same 5-2 margin at home against Plough who are sixth in the league. After the top two there is a gap of four points to third in the league Bird in Hand ‘E’ whose latest fixture saw them also win 5-2 away to Hollybush who are placed fourth in the table and now two points behind their victors.

Game number two in the new season of the Sedgley and Gornal Tuesday Night League and a 7-2 home win over Jolly Crispin keeps Britannia in pole position but only on average from Netherton Sports and Social Club, Stump and Red Cow. Netherton Sports and Social Club and Stump are both just two legs of average behind Britannia after the former won 7-2 at Royal and the latter 8-1 at home against bottom of the league Cabin while Red Cow are a further two legs adrift after they were 6-3 winners at Meadow Lark. Fifth placed Gornal British Legion had a bye this week, both they and eighth placed New Inn 2 are the only other undefeated teams in the league.

Six more fixtures to play in the Rowley Monday Night League and leaders Bell with a maximum from their T.Brennan and a 5-4 win at Spring Meadow remain six points clear at the top of the table with second and third in the league Hawthorns and Plough and Harrow both on forty points after the two teams met on the Hawthorns board this week and it was the hosts who got the 7-2 result to take over from their opponents in second place with a superior average, after the top three is a gap of another six points to fourth placed Whiteheath Tavern who did not fall any further behind as they won 7-2 at Loyal Lodge.

Dog and Partridge kept their title hopes on track in the West Midlands Men’s Super League with a 4-1 home win over Gilbert’s Bar A’ taking their points tally to eighty-five from twenty-two games but they only have a narrow one point lead over second placed Gilbert’s Bar ‘B’ who went one better with a 5-0 success at home against Junction ‘B’. As the finishing line draws nearer and nearer the fight for the Amblecote RBL Premier League title gets more and more fierce with every game played. The current situation is that Dan Nicholls top’s the table with 343 points from 64 games with another eight games to play. Nicholls most recent fixtures saw him open up with a 5-2 win over Dave Simpson but he then took on his nearest rival Nick Fullwell who beat him 4-3. Nicholls was quickly back to winning ways as he finished the night with a 6-1 success over Wozza Pritchard. In the latest division one fixtures in the Gilbert’s Bar Monday Night League leader Scott Baker was held to a 4-4 draw by second in the division Darren Williams who remains nineteen points short of his opponent and has played four games more than him. Third in the division Dean Simmons-Fullwood beat Tony Singh 5-3 to move to within one point of Williams with five games in hand.
An 8-0 win over Jon Williams keeps Kurt Wright top of division two, his 198 points from twenty-five games is eighteen more than second placed Alan Melling who has played one game more than Wright. Melling’s latest fixture saw him win 5-3 against Richard Brown. Third in the division Allan Davies had a 5-3 win over Malcolm Pugh but he is still fourteen points short of Melling.
Dave Thackeray has taken his undefeated run to twenty-seven games in division three with a crushing 8-0 win over Dave Akers to give him 250 points from 27 games while his nearest rival is Joe Bartolo who has played twenty-nine games and has twenty-five fewer points.

The top two teams in the Singles League of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League squared up to each other in game sixteen Hotshots losing pole position as they went down 5-2 at Junction ‘B’ who replace them at the top of the table, both teams are on thirty points but Junction ‘B’ have a far superior average. Third in the league New gate Inn ‘A’ won their home tie with Gilbert’s Bar ‘B’ 5-2 to keep within two points of the to two teams.
There is a similar situation in the Doubles League with Junction ‘B’ top with thirty-two points, Hotshots second on twenty-eight and New Gate Inn ‘A’ third with twenty-six.
