Michael van Gerwen is rated the most likely challenger to Lukes Littler and Humphries according to the odds at BoyleSports ahead of the opening night of Premier League Darts in Belfast.
The bookies make Van Gerwen the 11/2 third favourite in his quest to add to a haul of seven Premier League titles and revenge will be on his mind as the tournament gets underway on Thursday at the SSE Arena, as a World Championship Final rematch with Luke Littler awaits the Dutchman.
The Warrington whizzkid leads the betting at 13/10 to follow up his successful Premier League debut last year with another title, while 2024 World Champion Luke Humphries is the 11/4 second favourite as he prepares to kick off his campaign with a quarter-final clash against 33/1 outsider Nathan Aspinall.
It’s just a 9/2 shot that one of the eight competitors serve up a 9-darter on the opening night, with Stephen Bunting clipped into 13/2 from 7/1 to take the victory in Belfast as he makes his Premier League return against 2018 World Champion Rob Cross.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “It comes as no surprise that many are going for Lukes in their Premier League wagers, but Mighty Mike came up just one short in the Worlds and punters are singling him out as the value bet against the favourites.”
At the wrong end of the Premier League betting, Nathan Aspinall bears the unwanted tag of 6/4 favourite to finish bottom of the table, with Rob Cross also unfancied at 5/2 second favourite for the wooden spoon.
