Greaves Picks Up First Pro Tour Win

Play the Pro Darts Scorer

The second PDC Players Championship of 2025 saw a block of the younger generation succeed, Beau Greaves record her first win at the highest level and former World Champion Gerwyn Price claimed the title.

Price picked up his first PDC title of the year on Tuesday, after a dramatic 8-7 victory against Chris Dobey in the final of Players Championship Two, as the opening double header of the 2025 PDC Pro Tour season concluded at the Robin Park Leisure Centre, Wigan.

Price, who’s last Players Championship victory came back in November 2023, returned to winning ways on the floor, as he reached the final firstly by recording victories against William Borland, Danny Lauby, Jonny Clayton, Martin Schindler, Luke Littler and Ryan Searle, to set up a clash with Dobey.

The final began with Price taking the opener in 13 darts, before Dobey charged in front by rattling off three successive legs in 13,12 and 14 darts respectively to move 3-1 ahead in a race to eight. The tie then saw four straight holds of throw between the pair, which ended with Dobey breaking Price’s throw in Leg Nine with an 11 darter to move 6-3 ahead and within two of victory.

Price then produced a remarkable fightback by winning four successive legs to take the lead for the first time since Leg One, before Dobey pinned a 17 darter in Leg 14 to send the tie to a 15th and decisive leg.

The advantage of winning the bull prior to the match commencing proved to be vital, as Price sealed the victory in the decider with a 17 darter and denying his opponent a match dart to get his revenge over ‘Hollywood’ having suffered recent defeats against The North East star in the PDC World Darts Championship and on Night One of the Premier League in Belfast just last Thursday.

Dobey, who enjoyed a successful Pro Tour campaign in 2024 winning three Players Championship titles along the way, reached the final by recording a succession of victories on the day against Chris Landman, Jose De Sousa, Callan Rydz, Kim Huybrechts, Florian Hempel and Ross Smith, before being denied by Price.

Elsewhere, there were Quarter Final runs for Top Seed Dave Chisnall and Australia’s Premier player Damon Heta, whilst the likes of Former World Champion Michael Smith, Reigning UK Open Champion Dimitri Van den Bergh and Monday’s PC1 winner Rob Cross were amongst the high profile first round casualties.

The PDC Pro Tour returns next week in Rosmalen, Netherlands with Players Championship Three & Four taking place between February 17-18, with 128 players competing for £125,000 in prize money each day. Play will be broadcasted across four streaming boards on PDC.TV and various bookmaker websites worldwide, with all live scores and results on tv.dartconnect.com.
