A quintet of some of the most impressive stars of the current female game secured their spots in Saturday’s finale of MODUS Super Series Women’s Week (III) on Friday.
Vicky Pruim, Trina Gulliver, Rhian O’Sullivan, Kirsi Viinikainen and Lisa Ashton all secured their places in Saturday’s finale on Friday after coming through their respective groups at the MODUS Super Series, to join Gemma Hayter, the winner of Group A earlier in the week.
Pruim, who entered Friday’s play on 10 points from the opening day of Group C, topped the group overall after winning three of her five matches, as she recorded victories against Paige Pauling, Kirsty Hutchinson and Trina Gulliver, with her two defeats coming against Robyn Byrne and Katie Sheldon, to end on 16 points from a possible 20 overall.
Elsewhere, Trina Gulliver also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after finishing 2nd overall on 12 points, whilst Robyn Byrne finished 3rd on 10 points, Kirsty Hutchinson and Katie Sheldon finishing 4th and 5th respectively on 8 points each and Paige Pauling bottom on 6 points.
In Group B, Rhian O’Sullivan topped the group overall, despite only winning one of her four matches on Friday Evening, as she recorded her solitary victory against Lisa Ashton, with her three defeats coming against Lorraine Winstanley, Kirsi Viinikainen and Laura Turner, to end on 10 points from a possible 16 overall.
Elsewhere, Kirsi Viinikainen and Lisa Ashton also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after the pair finished 2nd and 3rd respectively overall on 10 points each, whilst Laura Turner finished 4th on 6 points and Lorraine Winstanley bottom on 4 points.
The Modus Super Series continues on Saturday with the conclusion of Women’s Week Three with the six players battling it out for the £5,000 top prize. Play will commence from 7:30pm BST and will be streamed live on the Modus YouTube channel, Pluto TV or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
