The PDC has confirmed a 160-player field for the inaugural European Open, which will be staged at the Salzburgarena from 18-20 June 2027 and offer a total prize fund of £750,000.

The new three-day event will bring together all 128 Tour Card Holders with a mix of international qualifiers and players from the development and amateur ranks.

The remaining places will be filled by 16 international qualifiers, the top four ranked players from both the Challenge Tour and Development Tour, and eight qualifiers from PDC Europe Start.

Drawing clear inspiration from the UK Open, the European Open is designed to give emerging talents and ambitious amateurs the chance to test themselves against the game’s biggest names on a major stage.

Eight boards will run simultaneously, allowing spectators to move freely between matches and enjoy the action up close.

Fans can also look forward to an Erdinger beer garden, interactive activities and additional entertainment throughout the weekend.

PDC Chief Executive Matt Porter said: “The European Open represents another significant step in the growth of our sport across Europe, and we’re delighted to be bringing this new event to Salzburg.

“The UK Open has shown that giving players from different backgrounds the opportunity to compete can produce memorable matches and unexpected results. That sense of possibility will be a big part of the European Open’s appeal.

“It also gives players progressing through our development and amateur circuits something new to aim for, and we look forward to seeing who takes their opportunity.”

The eight places reserved for PDC Europe Start players further strengthen the pathway from grassroots competition through to the professional ranks, sitting alongside the established routes offered by the Challenge and Development Tours.

Full details of the qualification process will be announced in due course.

The European Open forms part of the expanded 2027 PDC calendar and follows the World Cup of Darts in Frankfurt (10-13 June).

Day tickets will be available for Friday and Saturday, with separate tickets for Sunday’s sessions. The ticket pre-sale opens on 12 November 2026.
