Paul Krohne was the undisputed picture of satisfaction this weekend, wearing the broadest grin in the venue after negotiating three of the four available Euro Tour Host Nation qualifiers in Germany.
In a landscape where opportunities are both finite and fiercely contested, Krohne’s productivity across two demanding days was nothing short of exemplary.
Saturday proved the catalyst. The 25-year-old secured his berth at the European Darts Trophy and will travel to Göttingen in just under a fortnight intent on making a substantive impression. Though he narrowly missed out on qualification for the German Darts Grand Prix in Munich, Krohne ensured that omission would be little more than a footnote.
By the weekend’s conclusion, he had guaranteed himself a hat-trick of appearances on home soil this season – a commendable haul by any metric.Sunday afternoon began with coveted positions available for the European Darts Grand Prix in Sindelfingen.
Krohne, the reigning WDF Dutch Open champion, was once again among the quartet to emerge successfully. Joining him for the April showcase were Michael Hurtz, Robin Masino and Michael Unterbuchner – the latter destined for an even more lucrative afternoon.
Attention then pivoted to the International Darts Open in Riesa, the seventh stop on this year’s continental itinerary. Unterbuchner, affectionately known as T-Rex within darting circles, completed a gratifying double by sealing his passage once more.
Krohne, too, reinforced his weekend dominance, confirming his third qualification and underlining both consistency and composure under pressure.
Completing the successful quartet were Liam Maendl-Lawrence and Finn Behrens, the latter already having secured his place in Munich, thereby compiling an impressive portfolio of appearances across the German stretch of the calendar.
