With only three of the five darts divisions playing game number five in the UKDA National League the premier division produced an intriguing tie between the two top teams, Lancashire and Yorkshire. Going into the fixture Lancashire were in pole position on ninety-six points and Yorkshire second with ninety points.
The weekend got off to a great start for the away side Yorkshire as their ladies ‘B’ chalked up a 5-1 victory with Lily Blanthorn their lady of the match beating Jenny Nuttall 3-1 with a 21.86 average. At the end of the day the score was 10-8 in Lancashire’s favour as their men’s ‘B’ won 9-3, taking the match award was Mike Shaw for his 4-1 win over Tony Calvert and 25.49 average.
After a 5-1 defeat for Lancashire’s ladies on Saturday, Sunday’s ‘A’ team, reversed the result and won 5-1. Topping the averages with 21.15 was Dawn Shaw who got the better of the 3-1 result over Marie Fitton. With the score now at 15-9 to the hosts, the men’s ‘A’ added their 8-4 win to give a final victory of 23-13 to Lancashire to consolidate their number one position. Taking the men’s ‘A’ team man of the match award was Ant Hitchmough who defeated James Robins 4-1 and averaged 30.68.

The win has seen Lancashire open up a fifteen points lead over Suffolk who have taken over the second place from Yorkshire who drop to third with 103 points, some nineteen off the top. Suffolk moved up from third place following their 21-15 win at Dorset.
Essex man Ryan Harrington recorded the top men’s ‘A’ average of 31.31 in 4-0 win over Sussex player Tavis Dudeney. Rhian O’Sullivan topped the ladies ‘A’ average with a super 27.33 average in her 3-0 win over Lincolnshire’s Laura Tye. Suffolk’s Paul Spiers had a 4-3 win over Dorset’s Jayden Walker and took the men’s ‘B’ award for his 30.91 average while the ladies ‘B’ went to Lily Blanthorn (Yorkshire) who had a 3-1 win over Lancashire’s Jenny Nuttall.

A 20-16 home win over Oxfordshire has seen Middlesex extend their lead at the top of the Andy Wheeler Fisheries Championship Division from seven to eleven points. It was not such good news for Kent however as they had a bye and as a result lost their second place and fell to fifth, they are now some thirty points short of leaders Middlesex with a game in hand. Replacing Kent in second place is Hampshire, their 24-12 win at Cheshire leaving them eleven points off the top. West Midlands move up one place to third following their 22-14 home win over London and although twenty points behind Middlesex have a game in hand. A 22-14 home win for Northamptonshire over Cambridgeshire has seen them move up two places in the table to fifth
Gwent scooped up both of the men’s top averages as Nick Kenny took the ‘A’ award for his 31-18 average in his 4-2 win over Humberside’s Tom Buckle while Jesse Heal took the ‘B’ award for his straight 4-0 win and 30.83 average against Christian Stevenson (Humberside). Oxfordshire’s Deta Hedman OBE was the top ladies ‘A’ player, recording a 22.10 average in a 3-1 success over Wendy Reinstadtler (Middlesex). Topping the ladies ‘B’ charts was Middlesex player Tina Neylon who beat Oxfordshire’s Denise Pape 3-1 with a 22.46 average.
Clwyd Hold Firm Atop UKDA National League Darts Division 1
A 22-14 home win over Merseyside was enough for Clwyd to hold on to the top spot in the L-Style Division one, but still with only a two points lead on second placed Somerset who also won their home game with Berkshire 22-14. After going down 20-16 at home to Leicestershire, Black Country have slipped from third to fifth place with Worcestershire taking over in the number three position following their 20-16 win at Salopian. Leicestershire’s win over Black Country takes them from fifth to fourth with a game in hand on all three teams above them and they are only twenty-six points short of Clwyd.
Kieron Bridgwater was in top form for the Black Country as he beat Leicestershire’s Scott Hope 4-0 and in the process chalked up a tremendous average of 33.40. The men’s ‘B’ award went to Devon’s Luke Roberts who beat Derbyshire’s Mick Smith 4-2 and averaged 29.81. Salopian’s Terry Nash narrowly missing out with his 29.73 average. Somerset’s Karen Littler finished top of the ladies ‘A’ averages, her 25.97 average came in a 3-1 win over Berkshire’s Hayley Watts. Paula Swain (Leicestershire) had a 3-0 win over Black Country’s Leanne Wilson to take the ladies ‘B’ award for her 21.47 average.
There has been two rearranged fixtures played which saw Norfolk win their division two fixture at Northumberland 24-12 and in the division three game between Shropshire and Montgomery and Radnor the latter got the very close 19-17 win.
