The World Series of Darts’ return to the Infosys Theater at Madison Square Garden produced a Welsh double on Thursday’s opening night, as eight PDC superstars went head-to-head with their North American counterparts.
Overall it was a strong opening session for the top ranked PDC stars with seven out of eight progressing through to tonights’s quarter final line up.
Welsh stars Jonny Clayton and Gerwyn Price both eased through and will now meet Gian Van Veen and James Wade respectively.

Jonny Clayton awaits European Champion van Veen for a blockbuster last eight tussle, after the Welsh number one delivered a perfect doubling display in his 6-2 thumping of Gary Mawson, averaging almost 99 in the process.
Dutch number one Gian van Veen was another comfortable winner on Thursday night, marking his US Darts Masters debut with a crushing 6-1 victory against big stage newcomer Fred Krueger.
Meanwhile Gerwyn Price and James Wade will also lock horns in the quarter-finals, following hard-fought wins, over Brayden Hall and Adam Sevada in turn, on the iconic Madison Square Garden stage.

2024 runner-up Price overcome Canadian prospect Hall 6-4 in his opener, while Wade enjoyed a winning return to World Series action, following a 6-3 success against American number one and CDC leader Sevada.
The US Darts Masters will conclude on Friday evening, as the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final are held in front of a sell-out crowd of 5,000 fans – a record for darts in the US.
