Players Championship 25 is well underway in Hildesheim on Germany. The European based events often throw up unexpected results, due to changes in the field and different players being ‘at home’ – and today looks like being no exception.
This week’s ProTour double-header takes place at Halle 39, with Dutch number one Gian van Veen and top seed Wessel Nijman among the names competing for the £15,000 top prize. Luke littler and many other top ranked players have chosen to miss these events.

Raymond van Barneveld unveiled a new look shirt and his new look brough him an early victory over Ireland’s Keane Barry. The Dutch icon was hoever, halted by another Irishman in the next round as he went down to Mickey Mansell.
Australian number one Damon Heta seems to have rediscovered some of his best form today and is in the last four after a series of impressive wins. Meanwhile youngster Henry Coates in also underlining his ProTour form with another deep run.
A good day for the home nation with Max Hopp and Niko Springer gaining later stage places. All in all the last eight was made up of two Englishmen, two Germans, three Dutchman and an Aussie!
