The Welsh Open singles brought the curtain down on a five-day programme at Sand Bay Holiday Village on Sunday night, with Ryan Hogarth, Deta Hedman and Mitchell Lawrie taking the WDF Silver-ranked titles across the Open, Women’s and Youth classifications.
The three title winners at the weekend most prestigeous event include: the veteran performer, the young upstart and the battling journeyman.
Welsh Open 2026 (Open Classification)
Ryan Hogarth finally has a WDF ranking title to his name, ending seven years of final-day heartbreak with victory over Ross Montgomery in a high-quality Welsh Open final.
‘The Headhunter’ averaged 95.1 to see off Montgomery, who arrived at Sand Bay having already a added to a list of his own earlier in the week with victory in the Welsh Masters Open.
For Hogarth, the wait is finally over, and with it comes the title, the £1,500 top prize and a result that will have been a long time coming for those who’ve followed his near-misses over the years.
Women’s Welsh Open 2026
Deta Hedman claimed her 7th Welsh Open title, as she came out a 5-3 victor over Fallon Sherrock. The reigning Women’s World Champion sealed the deal with a 13 darter as she got some sort of revenge for the pair’s meeting on the Winter Gardens stage last month.
It had been 33 years since her first win in the event, and eight years since the last, but Hedman added yet another title to her ever-growing collection.
Welsh Open Youth Darts 2026
WDF World No.1 Mitchell Lawrie retained the title he picked up in Weston-Super-Mare last year as he saw off a spirited Kaya Baysal, who was aiming to pick up his second title of the week.
Lawrie defied a 101.39 average from Baysal, who had been 2-0 in a race to three, but the Scotsman got over the line in a last-leg decider. The pair shared 7 x 180s in as many legs and tipped off what has been a wonderful week for the sport’s younger talent at Sand Bay.
