Week Eight of MODUS Super Series 15 gets underway on Monday, with a fresh dozen players fighting through three darts groups for one of six sports on Saturday’s finals night, and further down the line, a spot in Champions Week.
Group A is led by a familiar face to those acquainted with the Super Series in Steve West. The Englishman holds five weekly titles and one special week on that stage, and has reaped the rewards of having such a platform after losing his PDC Tour Card in 2022.
It’s a tougher ask for West to add to his tally than the name alone might suggest. Chuck Paleo carries real pedigree of his own, having ranked number one on the CDC North American Tour in 2018 and reached the 2019 World Championship at Alexandra Palace, where Dimitri Van den Bergh ended his run.
Franceso Basili is the polar opposite in terms of experience. Italy’s teenage ‘Ice Boy’ has already claimed WDF youth titles in Italy and Malta and made the last eight of the World Masters Boys’ event in 2024, but this will be a serious step up in company.
A darts trio of Scotts
Filling out the rest of Group A are Scott Taylor, Scott Winder and Scott Robertson, there players who share little beyond a first name. Taylor boasts the most decorated CV of the three with six weekly titles wins as well as a Champions Week win in Series Six, with his latest coming as recently as July.
The new faces joining Group B are Reece Robinson, Conan Whitehead and Jamie Owens, which on paper looks the hardest to split, especially when they are joined by runner-up and third place from Group A. Whitehead, a Series winner, is joined by two previous weekly winners, a mouthwatering prospect.
Group C welcomes Johnny Haines, Jake Neale and Lewis Cook, set to be joined by Group A’s fourth, fifth and sixth-placed finishers with two spots up for grabs.
With a plethora of weekly titles split between the dozen players, the question of who can come out on top looks to be currently unanswerable.
