BENITO van de Pas produced another composed and clinical performance on Finals Night to claim the MODUS Super Series weekly title.
Big Ben overcame debutant Henry Cooper in a high-quality final at the Live Lounge in Portsmouth.
The Dutchman, a vastly experienced performer on the tungsten tossing circuits, booked his place in Champions Week with a hard-fought victory over Cooper, who had enjoyed a remarkable run on his first appearance in the event.
Cooper’s journey to the final included a semi-final win over Steve Green and several standout displays during the group stages, marking him out as one of the stories of the week.
Van de Pas had topped Group C earlier in the week with a strong recovery on the Friday, joining David Evans (Group A qualifier) and Sam Spivey among the players who advanced to Saturday’s Finals Night.
Once there, the experienced campaigner known as “Big Ben” showed his pedigree, navigating the short-format intensity to lift the weekly trophy and secure his berth among the Series fifteen elite.
Cooper’s run was the standout narrative of the evening. The Englishman arrived as a relative unknown on the Super Series stage but produced a series of impressive performances, earning praise from the official MSS account for his “dream debut” and ultimately reaching the final.
Although he fell short against van de Pas, his week will be remembered as one of the most encouraging debuts of the current series.
The result continues van de Pas’s strong association with the MODUS Super Series and adds another Champions Week appearance to his record.
For Cooper, the week offered a platform and valuable experience that he will look to build on in future appearances.
