Scott Robertson stormed to perfect start as Week Eight Kicks Off at MODUS Super Series
There was a distinctly clinical feel about Monday’s opening day of Group A action at the Live Lounge in Portsmouth as Scott Robertson produced a flawless five-win sweep to sit top of the early table in Week Eight of Series 15.
The Scot, a previous weekly winner, looked every inch the form horse. He opened with a 4-3 deciding-leg success over five-time Super Series champion Steve West, both men averaging comfortably over 90, before seeing off Chuck Puleo 4-3, thrashing Scott Taylor 4-1, beating Scott Winder 4-2 and whitewashing Italian teenager Francesco Basili 4-0.
Robertson ends Day One on a maximum 10 points with a leg difference of +11 and an average of 85.63.
Scott Taylor sits second on 8 points after four wins from five, his only reverse coming against Robertson.
The Series Six Champions Week winner showed his class with victories over Basili, West (4-3), Puleo and Winder.Steve West, the man many tipped to dominate the group, sits third on 6 points.
The Englishman recovered from that opening loss to Robertson with solid wins over Winder (4-2) and Basili (4-2), plus a 4-3 success against Puleo, posting the day’s highest average at 89.24. He will be looking to climb the table when the group reconvenes on Tuesday.
Chuck Puleo, Francesco Basili and Scott Winder all sit on 2 points after a tough opening day. American Puleo claimed a solitary win (4-3 over Basili), while Italy’s “Ice Boy” Basili marked his Super Series debut with a 4-0 thrashing of Winder. Winder’s only success came against Puleo.
