A 6-0 whitewash and a 101.33 average saw Mitchell Lawrie book his place in the final of the 2026 Europe Cup Open Singles. The reigning two-time Europe Cup Youth Singles champion will now have a crack at yet another Senior darts title on the WDF circuit.
The Scot, at just 15 years of age, produced a ruthless semi-final display to beat Sweden’s Anton Östlund without dropping a leg. Östlund averaged 88.50 and still got nowhere near him, whilst Lawrie even had a go at the big fish to seal the deal in the final leg. He didn’t catch it, but there was no harm done.
It hadn’t all been so easy. Lawrie needed a 5-4 decider in the quarter-finals against Ireland’s Gerard McGlynn, averaging 96.25 to McGlynn’s 90.48 in a match that really could have gone either way.

Waiting for him is Croatia’s Zvonimir Lešić who beat Slovenia’s Denis Duh 6-1 in the other semi-final, averaging 91.97 to Duh’s 78.38. Lešić had to be at his best to get there, edging Ireland’s Raymond Mulvey 5-4 in the last eight.
It was a quarter-final round of fine margins. All four ties went to a decider, with Duh squeezing past Czechia’s Dominik Moravčík 5-4 and Östlund getting the better of David Písek, also of Czechia, by the same score.
The Semis could not have been any different, with only one leg dropped between the eventual finalists.
The final of the WDF 2026 Europe Cup Open Singles will be played later in the day on Saturday, before the Teams Events take evening precedence.
