In the WDF another talented youngster of the period Joe Murnan (pictured a little later below) came through this week in 2011 to win the Romanian Open. Alan Norris picked up momentum and continued onto a super run after defending his French open title.

Twenty Darts Year Ago

Canadian home turf expert Gerry Convery (pictured) won the third of his four consecutive Klondike Opens this week in 2006. For context, the event has been contested by many of the great North American darters of recent times, with neither Jeff Smith nor Ken McNeil managing to lift the trophy.

Twenty Five Darts Years Ago 

A very impressive looking England men’s side swept up at the WDF World Cup in Kuala Lumpur. Martin Adams picked up the singles while the team and pars events were added with  Andy Fordham, John Walton and Merv King. For final flourish Stephen Bunting won the Youth Championship!

Ten Darts Years Ago

Darts World magazine was celebrating some of our games biggest hitters, and those soon to join them.

Issue 527 marked Phil Taylor’s remarkable win the inaugural Champions League of Darts at the same time as showcasing the incredible run of Michael Van Gerwen who was winning everything else.

Jonny Clayton’s Champion of Champions victory was also acknowledged alongside Mensur Sujlovic’s maiden PDC crown.

Scott Baker and Richard Hosey were among those recognised as Players of the Month!
