Josh Payne was victorious on Saturday in winning Week 1 of the Online Darts Live League and securing a place in Champions Week, after defeating Chas Barstow in the decider, with Andy Jenkins winning the 3rd place playoff to secure his qualification into Champions Week, as the first week of Phase 1 concluded.
Former Tour Card Holder, Payne, who entered the finale having won Group A earlier in the week, won both of his Group Phase matches to progress through to the Semi Finals, in recording victories over Scott Marsh and Andy Jenkins. In the last four, Payne took on Richard North, and came out a 4-1 victor to book his place in the final and a spot in Champions Week, no matter the outcome of the decider.
Payne took on Chas Barstow in the final and nothing separated the pair throughout the tie, but it was a 15-dart hold that sealed it for Payne in the 7th and deciding leg to take the tie and end a perfect debut week at the Online Darts Live League.
Elsewhere, beaten Semi Finalists Richard North and Andy Jenkins competed in a 3rd place playoff to see who would join Payne and Barstow in Champions Week, and it was Jenkins who was victorious, in coming out as a 4-2 winner.
Online Darts Live League returns on Tuesday with Week 2 commencing with the first of two days of Group A, with the field to be confirmed in due course. Play will commence from 9:30am GMT and will be streamed live on Online Darts TV YouTube channel or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
