Re-Masters: Seniors Return to Lakeside.

The 2022 World Seniors Masters takes place at Lakeside this weekend with Phil Taylor returning to the Lakeside after a competitive gap of almost 30 years.

The over 50s tournament runs from May 27-29, offers a prize fund of £31,000 and a cast list of the stars of yesteryear returning to the iconic stage at the Lakeside.

Nine former World Champions from the PDC and BDO codes, plus multiple major winners from across the darting spectrum of codes and sexes.

Phil Taylor won the first of his 16 World Championship titles at Lakeside back in 1990 heads the field and will be determined to add a maiden Seniors crown after a disappointing return to competition at the Seniors World Championship in February.

Newly crowned Seniors World champion Robert Thornton, who claimed glory at The Circus Tavern, looks for back-too-back success. Martin Adams will look to improve on his first round defeat in the WDF World Championship as Wolfie returns to the venue where he claimed three world titles.

Hugely popular Richie Howson will seek to again upset the narrative as The Owl attempts to repeat his superb run in the February event

Paul Lim, Roland Scholten, Deta Hedman and Tony O’Shea will be looking to make their mark after disapointing first Senior outings. Kevin Painter and Terry Jenkins will be out to go a step further than their Semi-Final efforts in Purfleet.

Darting icons and World Champions John Lowe, Keith Deller, Bob Anderson, Les Wallace and John Part are joined by former Women’s World Champions Trina Gulliver and Lisa Ashton.

Wayne Jones, Colin Monk and David Cameron are making their televised World Seniors debuts.

All matches up to and including the Quarter-Finals will be contested over the best of seven sets (best of three legs), with Semi-Finals and final best of 13 sets (best of three legs).
