Robert Thornton defeated Phil Taylor 12-10 to lift the World Seniors Matchplay Title, adding the trophy to his World Seniors Darts Championship title.
The Scot recovered from 6-4 and 7-5 deficits to win a gripping match, by the required 2 clear legs, at the final chance before a tie-breaker.
The win means Thornton has now won 2 out of the 3 WSDT TV Titles on offer in 2022 (The other was won by David Cameron).
Runner-Up Phil Taylor has now reached back-to-back finals on the WSDT. The Power was beaten comfortably by David Cameron at the Lakeside, but once again showed his fighting spirit to reach the final at the Bonus Arena.
Old adversaries Peter Manley and Kevin Painter both provided resistance to the 16 time world champion, with the latter forcing Taylor into extra-legs.
The Artist squandered match darts to repeat his victory from the Circus Tavern, ultimately costing him a shot at the title in the final.
Colin McGarry, the final qualifier standing in the event, was beaten at the Quarter-Final stage. The Chief produced yet another 90+ average in his last 8 match with Painter, even hitting a 170 checkout in the match, but he ran out of steam at the back end.
Terry Jenkins and Lisa Ashton were the other two quarter-finalists at the start of the day. They were beaten 8-6 and 8-0 by Thornton and Adams respectively..
