PDC Winmau Challenge Tour Events 11 & 12

Danny Van Trijp and Gian Van Veen were victorious on Friday, in winning Challenge Tour Events 11 & 12 respectively, as the PDC’s second tier tour weekend commenced at the H+ Hotel, Niedernhausen.

Van Trijp, who won Event 9 in the previous Challenge Tour weekend, went all the way again, as he recorded victories over Arsen Ballaj, Paulo Ferreira, Ciaran Teehan, Roy Van de Griendt, Patrick Van den Boogaard and Karel Sedlacek, to set up a clash with fellow Dutchman Jelle Klaasen in the final.

The final began with Van Trijp racing into a 3-0 lead, with winning legs coming in a total of 46 darts, before Klaasen cut the gap to just one leg by hitting back-to-back 15 darters. Van Trijp then sealed the victory in winning back-to-back legs in 16 and 18 darts respectively to pick up a 2nd Challenge Tour crown in just three events.

In Event 12, Van Trijp’s fellow Dutchman, Gian Van Veen was victorious, as he reached the final by recording victories over Callum Francis, Roberto Vandaele, Stephan Griese, Francois Schweyen, Ciaran Teehan and Davy Proosten, to set up a clash with David Pallett.

The final began with Van Veen racing into a 2-0 lead, before Pallett fought back in winning two legs of his own to level up the tie at 2-2. The tie then saw five straight holds of throw, with advantage of throwing first proving to be decisive, as Van Veen sealed the victory with a 15 dart hold of throw in the decider to take the tie and pick up a 1st PDC title of his career.
PDC Winmau Challenge Tour weekend continues on Saturday, with Events 13 & 14 taking place in Niedernhausen, with play commencing at 10:00 CET, as all live scores and results can be viewed at tv.dartconnect.com.
