World Seniors Draws Near: Details and analysis ahead of the 1st World Seniors

Red Dragon Darts

The draw has been completed and released for the World Seniors Darts Championship which will take place on the 3rd-5th of February 2022.

The inaugural staging of the event will be at the iconic Circus Tavern, home to the PDC World Championship in its early years.

Robert Thornton will take on 1988 World Champion Bob Anderson, who could be said to be the defending champion (as the winner of the last seniors championship to be broadcast). Whoever comes through will face 10 x Women’s World Champion Trina Gulliver MBE.

Thornton will fancy a real crack at this title. He has a good draw and will only face Taylor in the semi-final. He is active and still playing at a very high level. The Thorn is not intimidated by The Power, having defeated him in major finals previously.

While John Lowe 3 time World Champion and the most senior to play, could face fellow nine-dart hero Paul Lim should the Singapore Legend overcome the tricky Dave Prins.

A potentially tasty encounter awaits 16 x World Champion Phil Taylor who will renew his rivalry with Peter Manley if ‘One Dart’ can get past the very dangerous and in form Deta Hedman.

Martin Adams will kick off from the opposite end of the draw bracket to Phil Taylor with a potentially gripping final expected by many. Wolfie will face either old foe Darryl Fitton or qualifier Richie Howson.

Reigning WDF World Champion Wayne Warren will either take on familiar opposition in the form of ‘Silverback’ Tony O’Shea or a new foe in Kevin ‘The Artist’ Painter depending on who wins a superb-looking early-round tie.

Keith Deller will face a tough opener with the original Iceman Alan Warriner-Little or the first-ever (PDC) World Matchplay Champion Larry Butler in his first game.

The bottom half of the draw is looking very tough indeed. If Part is in good order he could build momentum through the event and he will need to. Larry Butler is still active and winning events across the globe and Lisa Ashton has been holding her own with many of the games current elite. Indeed, Ashton herself could be a strong dark horse.

John Part will take on either Les Wallace or John Walton, while also recently added Lisa Ashton faces Terry Jenkins or Roland Scholten.

Keith Deller will face Alan Warriner-Little or Larry Butler in his first game before a possible clash with Martin Adams.
