Gerwyn Price was victorious on Saturday in winning Players Championship 7, after an 8-4 victory over Madars Razma in the decider, as the PDC Pro Tour weekend commenced at the H+ Hotel, Niedernhausen.
Price, who won the opening European Tour event of the year in February, came through two last leg shootouts in reaching the decider on Saturday, as he recorded victories over Connor Scutt, Ted Evetts, Geert Nentjes, Dirk Van Duijvenbode and Rob Cross, to set up a clash with Razma.
The final began with Price racing into a 4-0 lead, with winning legs coming in 17,14,13 and 15 darts respectively, before Razma picked up his 1st leg of the tie, with a 15 darter in leg five. Price then moved within one of victory, as he rattled off a trio of 15 dart legs, before Razma began a fightback, in winning three straight legs to move within three of the Welshman. Price then sealed the victory in Leg 12 with a 17 darter to take the title and picking up his 1st Pro Tour win since August.
Razma’s run to yet another ranking final saw him record victories over Ricardo Pietreczko, Mervyn King, Jeff Smith, Luke Humphries, Gary Blades and Kevin Doets, with his wait for a 1st PDC title continuing.
Elsewhere, there were Last 8 runs for Jose De Sousa and Scott Williams, with the likes of James Wade, Danny Noppert and Dimitri Van den Bergh all suffering early exits. The day also saw two perfect legs hit by De Sousa and Raymond Van Barneveld.
The PDC Pro Tour weekend concludes on Sunday with Players Championship Eight taking place in Niedernhausen, with the 128 players returning to compete for a further £100,000 in prize money, with play beginning at 12:00 GMT. Play will be broadcasted across two streaming boards on PDC.TV and various bookmaker websites worldwide, with all live scores and results on tv.dartconnect.com.
