Saturday’s evening session at the Flanders Darts Trophy delivered the biggest story of the day as Damon Heta produced a major upset, knocking out Michael van Gerwen in a last-leg thriller.
Heta, who had already edged Beau Greaves the previous night, held his nerve in a high-quality, unbroken 6-5 win over the three-time world champion. Neither player lost a leg on throw until the deciding leg, where the Australian prevailed.
Elsewhere the seeds largely delivered. Ryan Joyce caused another surprise by defeating Josh Rock 6-3. Gerwyn Price was in dominant form, averaging over 103 in a 6-3 win over Bradley Brooks.
James Wade returned to winning ways with a comfortable 6-2 success against Jim Long, while top seed Gian van Veen looked sharp in a 6-3 victory over Gabriel Clemens.
Nathan Aspinall produced the standout performance of the night, averaging just under 106 in a clinical 6-1 demolition of Niko Springer.

Stephen Bunting came through a tough last-leg battle against Brendan Dolan (6-5), and Wessel Nijman closed the session with a 6-4 win over Sebastian Bialecki, highlighted by an early 170 checkout.
All eight winners join the afternoon qualifiers in Sunday’s last-16 line-up.
