Atkinson cuts Jackson’s Lead with Wood Dropping to Fourth:
ADC action returned over the weekend with many looking to move their way up the rankings, with Matt Jackson gaining another 32 points and Adam Atkinson in second earning 64. Tony Wood despite reaching the final of the Spennymoor Town FC Open, has moved down to fourth in the rankings with 32 points added to his name after the weekends action.
The Action earnt 32 points from a rankings catch-up, whilst 27-year-old Atkinson included averages above 90 in his ties in the Knack Ranking Series 2. The Englishman included a very impressive 11 dart leg in his opening match against Tony Cummings to hold throw in the opening leg, finishing 58 after two darts.
The Final in Seaham saw the Northeast-born thrower beat Ray Marshall 5-3 in the Final with Atkinson averaging a high 94.16. Biffa enjoyed a good day in Shropshire, including a 4-1 Semi-Final win over Tony Wood and a 93.94 average in his opening 4-0 win over Siobhan Cassidy.
Lloyd Pennell has moved to third ahead of Wood after a very strong performance at the Peter McMenamin Open in Teesside picking up 64 points with the victory. The Lincoln thrower beat Karl Coleman 5-2 in the Final including a fourteen darter in the opening leg. The 37-year-old closed out win by finishing 72 on his last dart to move to 396 points, 132 points of Atkinson in second.
St Helens born Kevin Garcia, from the same place as the likes of Michael Smith, Dave Chisnall (and WDF Lakeside Girls Champion Eleonor Cairns) made it into the top 16 in the rankings. The 39-year-old won the Blackpool Grand Slam Mayhem after beating former Premier League Darts participant Wes Newton in the Final.
The Warrior beat Jordan Brooks 4-0 earlier on in the day despite losing to his Fleetwood counterpart in the Group, whilst Kevin Garcia won his Group before beating Eddie Jackson with a 96.97 average. Jordan Brooks played at Lakeside in April but could only manage a Quarter-Final appearance in Blackpool gaining 8 points for his efforts.
The St Helens thrower came through a winner in the Qs Sports Lounge earning 64 points to move up to thirteenth in the Rankings, 4 points behind Gary Hayes in twelfth and 2 points clear off Geoff Murray.
Teesside thrower Hayes also played in the Peter McMenamin Open at the weekend and managed a Last 16 appearance resulting in 8 points to his ADC Rankings score. Familiar surroundings for Hayes playing a tournament in his hometown, who won his Last 16 match 4-0 against Dan Dinning before falling to a Quarter-Final defeat at the hands of Anthony Coleman.
The ADC action continues at the weekend including the Streamline Taxis York Open event which former Boys World Champion Leighton Bennett and Third in the rankings Lloyd Pennell are registered for.
Tony Wood will make his way to County Durham as he searches for the third spot in the rankings once more as he prepares for Consett Station Club 2022 Ranking Tournament.
