‘Dream Maker’ Dimitri Joins Target.

Red Dragon Darts

Team Target are delighted to announce that former World Matchplay Winner and current top 16-world ranked, Dimitri Van den Bergh has joined #TeamTarget.

The Dream Maker will be lining up alongside fellow Major winners such as Rob Cross, Nathan Aspinall, Raymond van Barneveld and of course the legendary 16x World Champion Phil Taylor.

Dimitri exploded onto the scene as a youngster, winning back-to-back World Youth Championships. Having narrowly missed out on the World Matchplay in 2019, the Belgian made his own dreams come true the following year, not just qualifying for the Matchplay but winning it on his debut.

2022 has seen Dimitri pick up several honours, including back-to-back World Series titles in the Nordic Darts Masters and the Dutch Darts Masters. The World Matchplay has proven to be a favoured tournament for the maestro as his record from three outings has seen him win it, reaching another final and a semi-final place.

Sitting down with Dan Dawson for the first time since he became a Target player, Dimi was clearly elated at the prospect:

“It’s a new step in the career…It’s good to come home”. The Antwerp-born star first picked up Target manufactured darts when starting out and throughout his youth career.

Even from the initial discussions, he knew that this was a decision he wanted to make

“It’s like I’m getting a little lollipop here, as if I’m a little kid! This is brilliant, this is what you want!”.

The ever-popular Belgian will be looking to take the next step in his career with Targets backing, starting with the German Darts Open this Friday in Jena.

Managing Director of Target Darts, James Tattersall, is looking forward to a fruitful partnership with the latest signing:

“We’ve signed one of the best players in the world in Dimitri, he’s got so much potential and we’re so excited to see him develop into what will only be a nightmare for other players. It’s time to step beyond.”
