Josh Payne and Scott Baker took the early lead on Thursday in ending Day 1 of their respective groups, top, as they look to join Lukas Wenig in Saturday’s finale at the Modus Super Series.
Former Tour Card Holder, Payne, who featured multiple times in the Live League earlier in the year, made his first appearance in the Super Series, by taking the early lead in Group C, in winning four matches from five, as he recorded victories over Dave Prins, Steve Haggerty, Davy Proosten and Franz Roetzsch, with his only defeat coming against Thibault Tricole.
Elsewhere, Thibault Tricole and Davy Proosten ended the day 2nd and 3rd respectively on 6 points each, with Franz Roetzsch and Steve Haggerty sitting 4th and 5th on 4 points each, as debutant Dave Prins sits bottom on 2 points.
In Group B, Scott Baker took the early lead, in winning three of his four matches, as he recorded victories over Mike Warburton, Mike Gillet and Niall Culleton, with his only defeat against Gavin Carlin.
Elsewhere, Gavin Carlin and Mike Warburton both also ended the day on 6 points too, but sit behind Baker on leg difference in 2nd and 3rd respectively, with Gillet finishing 4th on 2 points and Culleton bottom on 0 points, having suffered four defeats from four.
Modus Super Series continues on Friday with players continuing to battle out as they aim to join Lukas Wenig in Saturday’s finale, with Payne and Baker taking the early lead thus far. Group C will commence from 9:30am GMT and Group B will commence from 10pm GMT. Play will be streamed live on Online Darts TV YouTube channel or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
