Haavisto Hits the Heights as Europe Cup Last 32 Takes Shape

Play The Pro Darts Scorer

Jani Haavisto set the pace in Torshavn, firing the highest average of the Open Singles Last 64, a sparkling 99.03, to book his place in the Last 32 of the WDF Europe Cup.

The Finn beat Daniel Zapata 4-2, and it took some beating, Zapata averaged 92.45 himself, in defeat.

Paul Krohne showed off his title credentials too. The German took out 121 for a 12-darter in the opening leg of his Last 64 matchup against Scott Campbell, and though the tie went all the way, he prevailed 4-3. It is the sort of statement that fits his 2026, which has already brought WDF Silver titles at the Dutch, Swiss and Belgium Opens.

There were more big numbers elsewhere. Mitchell Lawrie (93.54), David Davies (92.59) and Jenson Walker (90.62) all topped 90 to seal their places, with Jamie Bain (96.325) and Anton Östlund (93.94) also clearing the mark on their way through.

The hosts’ last hope has gone, though. The Faroes’ Jan Erik Fjallstein was the final home player standing in the Open Singles, but he was beaten 4-0 by Gerard McGlynn, who is through to the Last 32 alongside Denmark’s Benjamin Drue Reus.

Two nations look well placed for another medal push, too. Czechia have all four of their Open Teams semi-finalists – Petr Touš, David Písek, Dominik Moravčik and Jindřich Ulrych, all still in the singles, while Ireland have three of theirs in McGlynn, Damien Grimes and Raymond Mulvey.
