Leonard Gates secured his place in Saturday’s finale on Wednesday, after winning four of his five matches to end his Group A campaign, top, as the field was confirmed for Groups B and C at the Modus Super Series.
Gates, who entered Wednesday’s play on 12 points from the opening two days of Group A, won four matches from five to top the group overall, as he recorded victories over Larry Butler, Gary Hayes, Conan Whitehead and Owen Bates, with his only defeat coming against Colin Osborne, to end on 20 points from a possible 30.
Elsewhere, Colin Osborne dramatically missed out on an automatic spot through to Saturday’s finale, after finishing 2nd overall on 20 points, but behind Gates on leg difference, and will compete in Group B alongside Owen Bates, who finished 3rd on 16 points. Osborne, a Darts World Ambassador, defeated Gates for the second consecutive day and managed to reverse a losing run against Hayes. However, his narrow loss to Bates prevented a clean sweep, and automatic qualification, for The Wizard.
The duo will be joined on Thursday and Friday Evenings by Adam Hunt, Prakash Jiwa and Rob Collins.
Conan Whitehead, Larry Butler and Gary Hayes will all compete in Group C, after finishing 4th, 5th and 6th respectively overall, with Whitehead and Butler ending on 12 points each and Hayes on 10 points. The trio will be joined on Thursday and Friday Morning by Luke Getty, John Brown and Callum Francis.
Modus Super Series continues on Thursday with Group C commencing from 9:30am GMT and Group B commencing from 10pm GMT. Play will be streamed live on the Modus YouTube channel, Sporty Stuff TV or via various bookmaker’s websites worldwide.
