Hendo Joins World Seniors

Red Dragon Darts

Scottish World Cup Star John Henderson will make his World Seniors Darts TV Debut at the World
Seniors Matchplay later this year.

Henderson lifted the PDC World Cup of darts title with Peter Wright just two years ago. Since then, The Highlander has turned 50 and joins the field as one to watch given his form in 2023.

Taking place between the 2nd-3rd September at The Barbican in York, the 16-player field will battle it out live on BT Sport as they attempt to dethrone Robert Thornton. The Thorn won the inaugural Matchplay title last year in Hull.

Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor and Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams, two WSDT TV ever-presents, will both be in the field once again, as two of the most successful players of all time target their first World Seniors title.

John Part will lead a North American trio to York. The three-time World Champion will be joined by the reigning World Seniors Master David Cameron, and Champion of Champions Leonard Gates.

Three more world champions in Trina Gulliver, Neil Duff and Glen Durrant have also accepted invitations, whilst Kevin Painter completes the line up so far.

One further invitational spot remains open, and will be awarded to the World Seniors Masters Winner should they not already be in the field. A further invitation will be announced should the winners place already be confirmed.

Four further players will qualify for the event during a qualifying weekend in Reading on the 28th– 30th July.  Those 4 players will be made up of 2 individual qualifier event winners, the Order or Merit Leader, and the Money List leader.

Billy Lovell of the World Seniors Darts Tour said:

“We are really excited to be taking such a great line up to The Barbican in York, and we know it will get even better following the qualifying weekend. The first two TV tournaments of the year delivered great drama and quality on the oche, and we are sure the JenningsBet World Seniors Matchplay will be no different.”
