Former UK Open Champion Danny Noppert will make his first appearance on the 2023 PDC World Series stage, as the Professional Darts Corporation prepare for the inaugural Poland Darts Masters at the COS Torwar in Warsaw.

The Freeze will be looking to impress in the upcoming World Series event with the Betfred World Matchplay starting on the 15th, so will want to build up some form ahead of his return to the Winter Gardens where he reached the Semi Finals last year.

The Dutchman will face a difficult opening round match against home favourite and PDC Tour Card holder Radek Szaganski, who earned his right to play on the Pro Tour at European Qualifying School in 2022. and has shown recent signs of settling in and producing his very best.

Noppert and compatriot Dirk van Duijvenbode fell just short at the World Cup of Darts, after being involved in an epic matchup with Belgium in the Last 16.

The Freeze does have a Pro Tour title to his name, after beating fellow Winmau player Simon Whitlock 8-3 in the Final of Players Championship 2 at the Barnsley Metrodome back in February.

Michael van Gerwen comes into the Poland Darts Masters as the last winner on the World Series stage, after he beat former BDO World Finalist Jeff Smith to win the US Darts Masters at Madison Square Garden.

Mighty Mike returns to action after missing the 2023 World Cup of Darts and the European Darts Matchplay because of a dental operation, so will want to make an impression on his return outing in the Polish capital.

Van Gerwen will also be looking ahead to July 15th as he prepares for the defence of the Phil Taylor trophy, with the draw putting him against fellow Winmau player Brendan Dolan in the First Round as the Number 3 Seed in Blackpool.

The Green Machine will open his Poland Darts Masters campaign against recent UK Open Semi Finalist Adam Gawlas, with Karel Sedlacek the only other Czech representative in the competition.

The Poland Darts Masters starts on Friday from 6pm live from the COS Torwar in Warsaw live on Viaplay Sports and DAZN, with Dimitri van den Bergh opening the inaugural tournament against Karel Sedlacek.
