Luke Littler and Gian Van Veen were victorious on Friday, in winning Development Tour Events 16 & 17 respectively, as the fourth weekend of the PDC’s Youth Tour season commenced at Leicester’s Morningside Arena.
Littler, who won two of the opening five Development Tour Events of 2023 back in April, returned to winning ways in Event 16.
The Nuke reached the final firstly by recording victories against Charlie Large, Roman Korsunov, Adam Gawlas, Jarred Cole, Wessel Nijman, Keane Barry and Cam Crabtree, to set up a clash with Dutchman, Bradly Roes.
The final began with three straight holds of throw, before Littler broke Roes’ throw for the first time in Leg Four to move 3-1 ahead in a race to five.
The Dutchman then broke back in the following leg, before Littler rattled off back-to-back legs in a total of 34 darts to seal a 5-2 victory and pick up a 3rd Development Tour title in his debut campaign within the PDC.
In Event 17, Gian Van Veen was victorious for a fifth time this season, with the Dutch Star dropping just five legs on route to the final, as he recorded victories against Jamie Lynch, Connor Wagner, Tom Kloppmann, Fred Box, Roman Benecky, Tavis Dudeney and Adam Gawlas, to set up a clash with Reece Colley.
In the final, The Dutchman dominated throughout, winning five successive legs in a total of 80 darts and record a fifth whitewash victory in eight matches to scoop up the £2,500 top prize and a 5th Development Tour title of the year.
PDC Winmau Development Tour weekend continues on Saturday, with Events 18 & 19 taking place in Leicester, with play commencing at 10:00 BST, as all live scores and results can be viewed at tv.dartconnect.com.
