Berry Van Peer, Reece Robinson, Luke Littler, Steve West and Colin Osborne all secured their places in Saturday’s Champions Week finale on Friday after coming through their respective groups at the Modus Super Series, to join Jeroen Mioch, the winner of Group A earlier in the week.
Berry Van Peer progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after finishing 2nd overall on 16 points, whilst Patrick Van den Boogaard finished in 3rd on 12 points, Andy Boulton in 4th on 6 points, with Rene Eidams and Jelle Klaasen finishing 5th and 6th on 4 points each.
But it was Robinson – entered Friday’s play on 8 points from the opening day of Group C – who topped the group overall, after completing a clean sweep with five wins from five, as he recorded victories against Berry Van Peer, Jelle Klaasen, Andy Boulton, Patrick Van den Boogaard and Rene Eidams, to end on 18 points from a possible 20.
In Group B, Luke Littler topped the group overall, after winning three of his four matches, as he recorded victories against Steve West, Neil Duff and Colin Osborne, with his only defeat coming against Danny Lauby, to end on 14 points from a possible 16.
Elsewhere, Steve West and Colin Osborne also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively, with West ending on 12 points and Osborne on 6 points, whilst Danny Lauby also ended on 6 points, but missed out on leg difference, with Neil Duff finishing bottom on 4 points.
Osborne, a Darts World ambassador, used his wealth of experience to produce a 4-1 victory over Lauby, including 3 x 180s and a 121 finish, that most thought went against this week’s form book. The result renderd the final game irrelevant and sees The Wizard able to attempt to win Championships Week finale for the first time.
The Modus Super Series continues on Saturday with the conclusion of Champions Week with the six players battling it out for the record-breaking £20,000 top prize, with play commencing from 7:30pm BST.
