Jim McEwan, Sebastian Bialecki, Darryl Pilgrim, Rob Grundy and Mareno Michels secured their places in Saturday’s Champions Week finale on Friday after coming through their respective groups at the Modus Super Series, to join Andreas Harrysson, the winner of Group A earlier in the week.
McEwan, who entered Friday’s play on 8 points from the opening day of Group C, topped the group overall, after winning four of his five matches for the second day in a row, as he recorded victories against Matthew Dennant, Anton Ostlund, Sebastian Bialecki and Steve West, with his only defeat coming against Matt Clark, to end on 16 points from a possible 20.
Elsewhere, Sebastian Bialecki (pictured) also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after finishing 2nd overall on 12 points, whilst Matthew Dennant and Steve West finished 3rd and 4th respectively on 10 points each, with Matt Clark finishing 5th on 8 points and Anton Ostlund finishing bottom on 4 points.
In Group B, Darryl Pilgrim topped the group overall, after winning three of his four matches on Friday Evening, as he recorded victories against Rob Grundy, Chris Quantock and Conan Whitehead, with his only defeat coming against Mareno Michels, to end on 14 points from a possible 16.
Elsewhere, Rob Grundy and Mareno Michels also progressed through to Saturday’s finale, after the pair finished 2nd and 3rd respectively overall on 8 points each, whilst Chris Quantock finished 4th on 6 points and Conan Whitehead bottom on 4 points.
The Modus Super Series continues on Saturday with the conclusion of Champions Week with the six players battling it out for the record breaking £20,000 1st prize, with play commencing from 7:30pm GMT.
