Taylor Power’s Down

Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor has today announced the World Seniors Darts Tour in 2024 will be his final year of active competition.

Many rate ‘The Power’ as one of the greatest sportsmen in history and over his 35-year career has amassed a record 85 major titles including 16 World Championships.

The 63-year-old previously stepped back from the competitive side of the sport after reaching a last World Championship final in 2018, but returned in 2022 to support inaugural World Seniors Darts Championship and has played each of their major events since.

Speaking about his decision Taylor said:

“I’ll always love performing to the best of my ability, but time waits for no man, and I know now is the right time to step away from the Tour.

“It’s been an unbelievable journey over the past 35 years, and I’ve loved every minute of it. I’d like to thank Target and the World Seniors Darts Tour for their support in recent years and I’m looking forward to playing in front of darts fans across the country next year.

“I’m going to be working just as hard as I always have to make sure I give the fans what they want and go out on top”.

The Power is widely considered the greatest to have ever graced our sport, dominating professional darts for more than two decades. During that time the Stoke thrower claimed more than 200 professional tournaments, and close to 90 ‘major’ titles.
