Colin Osborne’s quest for a return to darts top table is still on course after the Darts World columnist had his best start to a Q-School final stage on Thursday.
The former Champions League of Darts winner and UK Open finalist is seeking a return to the PDC Pro Tour after more than 6 years away from the top flight.
Osborne began his final phase campaign with a hard fought 6-4 win over James Beeten. The Teeside man then produced some of his best darts as he raced into a 4-2 lead over highly rated Alex Spellman, while averaging well in excess of 103. Despite a suoerb 151 finish from the American, to stay in the match, Colin closed out the tie 6-3.
The Wizard repeated the trick with the same score against Ryan Furness before going down to Justin Hood in the last 16.
” I finally began to feel like the real me. There is plenty more to come but that was a solid days work….”
The 2 points gained are enough to place the 48-year-old within leg difference of a Tour Card, spot he added:
“Of course, every player wants to play at the highest level and test their mettle against the best. But, the last few years have taught me to take each day for itself and take nothing for granted…”
Friday will offer a further chance for players to win Tour Cards, with play commencing at 1300 CET in Kalkar and 1200 GMT in Milton Keynes.
In addition to the daily Tour Card winners, a further 23 Tour Cards will be awarded on a pro-rata basis to players from the respective UK/European Qualifying School Final Stage Orders of Merit following Day Four – 13 in Europe, and 10 in the UK.
