Justin Smith and Martyn Turner took the early lead on Thursday, ending top of Group’s B and C as they look to join Tom Sykes in Saturday’s finale at the MODUS Super Series.
Turner (pictured), who last appeared at the Super Series back in September last year, made his return by taking the early lead in Group C, winning four of his five matches.
The ‘Mutts Nutts’ recorded victories against Michael Burgoine, Jack Male, Martin Adams and Steven Johnstone, with his only defeat coming against Bradly Roes, to end the day on 8 points from a possible 10.
Elsewhere, three players in Bradly Roes, Martin Adams and Steven Johnstone ended the day 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively overall on 6 points each, whilst Jack Male and Michael Burgoine sit 5th and 6th on 2 points each, heading into Day Two.
In Group B, Justin Smith took the early lead, after winning three of his four matches, as he recorded victories against Chris Gilliland, Revelino Dubois and Jamie Kelling, with his only defeat coming against Andy Hamilton, to end the evening on 6 points from a possible 8.
Elsewhere, Chris Gilliland also ended the night on 6 points, but sits in 2nd behind Smith on legs difference, whilst Andy Hamilton is 3rd on 4 points. Revelino Dubois and Jamie Kelling sit 4th and 5th respectively on 2 points each.
The MODUS Super Series continues on Friday with players continuing to battle it out as they aim to join Tom Sykes in Saturday’s finale, with Turner and Smith leading thus far.
Group C will commence from 1pm BST and Group B will commence from 10pm BST. Play will be streamed live on the MODUS YouTube channel, Sporty Stuff TV or via various bookmaker’ websites worldwide.
