The Harborne and District League have completed their domestic fixtures and ending their campaign in style by handing their visitors, Windsor a 9-0 whitewash were league champions Northfield Conservative Club who have gone through the season having played twenty-two games and won them all. With a perfect forty-four points Northfield Conservative Club finished six points to the good on runners-up Copper Fox ‘R’ who suffered a close 5-4 defeat in their final game, a local derby against Copper Fox ‘M’ who ended their season joint third with Northfield Town whose 6-3 home win over Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club put them level on thirty-two points with Copper Fox ‘M’ with both sides also level on average. Windsor’s defeat saw them go throughout the season without a single win in their twenty-two fixtures.

The most wins for the season went to Northfield Conservative Club player Dave Hill who won twenty of his games he also had the most tons 113.08 and the least darts which was eleven. The highest finish in the league went to Hill’s team-mate Wayne Marshall who checked out on 158. There was a total of 118 maximums recorded during the season.

The Sheldon and District Summer League had the quarter-finals of their League Cup on the fixture card in which current group one leaders Langley Arrows progressed to the next round with a comprehensive 7-0 win over group two leaders Banbury Club. Second in group one Raven Arrows had a closer 5-2 win over Highwood with Jason and Zac Prince both chalking up twelve darts games plus Jason notched a maximum for Raven Arrows while Darren Wright also found the three treble twenties for Highwood. Group three’s Old Salts Darts, with a 108 finish from Kevin Smith had a fine 5-2 win over Kingshurst Labour Club who hail from group two. Another group three team to book their place in the next round was Sheldon Marlborough Ridge who beat their group one opponents Mackadown Sport and Social Club 4-3, Alex Edwards hitting a 180 for Mackadown.

There were also three rearranged league fixtures played, in group one RAFA, despite a 153 finish from John Smyth lost 5-3 to Brian’s Flights whose Daniel White scored a maximum. In group three Lee Harris recorded a 105 finish plus a twelve darts game for Langley Flights, however his team lost 5-3 at home to Shirley Misfits with Neil Comerford checking out on 107 for the visitors. A 5-3 home win for Moseley Rugby Club over Trident Flights saw the winners replace Raven in pole position in group four, Moseley now on ten points with Raven, who have dropped to second on nine points.

On the agenda for the South West Birmingham Clubs Summer League was the preliminary round of their Divisional Cups and in the division one games Northfield Conservative Club ‘B’, who are currently second in the division, had a 13-8 win at Quarry Club with N.Prosser having a 160 break for the winners. The division’s bottom two teams, who are both without a win so far in the league, squared up to each other with next to bottom Northfield Darts Club losing 12-9 at home to bottom placed Perfection whose S.Young hit a maximum. Division one leaders Stirchley United and Bournbrook both had a bye.

There was just the one game played for division two in which as in the division one games the bottom two teams played against each other but on this occasion it was the next to bottom team Moseley All Services Club who made their way into the next round as they won a close 11-10 game against bottom of the division E57. Bartley Green, Northfield Conservative Club ‘A’ and Kings Norton Ex Serviceman’s Club all had a bye.

The Camp Hill League rounded off their season playing the one outstanding fixture between Clumsy Swan and Erdington Nomads. The result was a 5-2 win for the away side Erdington Nomads which saw them finish fourth in the table on eighteen points with their hosts fifth on fourteen points. The league title went to Wakefield Warriors who won all fourteen of their fixtures, their twenty-eight points eight more than runners-up Cotterills Lane EBAHA Club.

The league is now looking forward to their next season which is expected to kick-off in mid-October. With seven more fixtures to play in the Stourbridge and District Monday Night League leaders Old Liberal Club took their undefeated run to twenty-nine games when they handed their hosts Fox Inn (Lye) a 7-0 whitewash to keep them a huge eight points ahead of their nearest rivals Princess who in their home game with Gate Hangs Well ‘A’ had a close 4-3 victory. Third in the league Gate Hangs Well ‘B’ won their home tie with Rose and Crown ‘B’ 6-1 to leave them two points short of Princess but with a game in hand. Fourth and fith placed Five Ways and Netherton Conservative Club ‘B’ are both on forty-four points with only average separating them after Five Ways had a convincing 7-0home win over Glasscutters ‘B’ and Netherton Conservative Club ‘B’ won 5-4 away to Crestwood.

For only the second time in twenty-one games Dudley Sports ‘A’ lost in the Silver End Sunday Morning League, playing at home the league leaders took on Old Liberal Club who beat them 6-2 and even after their win the Liberal Club, who are seventh in the league table are still eighteen points adrift of their hosts. Despite the defeat Dudley Sports ‘A’ hold on to the number one spot with fifty-five points but have had their lead reduced to just four points after second in the league Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club won their home tie with Raven 7-1. Third in the league Old Star were also 7-1 winners as they accounted for their visitors Dudley Sports ‘B’ to keep within two points of the Ex Serviceman’s Club and seven ahead of fourth in the league Church Tavern who together with fifth placed Tenth Lock were the week’s biggest winners as in turn they handed out 8-0 defeats to Brier Rose and Old Cat Inn.

For the first time in fourteen games Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’ lost in the Brierley Hill Monday Night League when in their home fixture with Rose and Crown ‘B’ they finished on the wrong side of the 5-4 result. Although they lost Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club ‘A’ remain top of the table with twenty-six points from their fourteen games and have a lead of four over four teams Roebuck ‘A’, Maverick, Roebuck ‘B’ and Mount Pleasant. Roebuck ‘A’ had an 8-1 home win over Glasshouse ‘B’ while Maverick missed the opportunity to go outright second when they lost their home game with High Acres ‘B’ 5-4. Roebuck ‘B’ won 5-4 at the Bridge and have a game in hand on the other three teams on twenty-two points, Mount Pleasant were 5-4 winners at home against Pensnett Liberal Club ‘B’. Although Rose and Crown ‘B’ beat the league’s top team they are placed eighth and are ten points off the top of the table.

It was the finals of the 3-A-Side Knockout for the Hilltop Friendly Tuesday Night League and it was the current league leaders Vine ‘A’, who already have one hand on the champion’s silverware that provided the winning team of M.Tedstone, D.Quinn and C.Whitehouse. Making up the final were the Horseley Tavern ‘A’ trio of L.Messer, S.Earp and D.Newman who actually went 1-0 up in the final but then narrowly lost out 2-1 as with a bull finish C.Whitehouse clinched the title for Vine ‘A’.

Five Ways ‘A’ consolidated their pole position in the Stourbridge and District Wednesday Night League when they handed their hosts Wheatsheaf a 7-0 thrashing to make it fourteen wins in as many games for the league leaders. Hot on the heels of the top side is second placed Old Liberal Club ‘A’ who also had an emphatic 7-0 win at Mount Pleasant to keep within two points of the leaders and four ahead of third and fourth placed Bird in Hand ‘E’ and Hollybush, Bird in Hand ‘E’ had a 6-1 win away to Brickmakers Arms while Hollybush were held to a closer 4-3 victory playing away against Five Ways ‘B’. After the top four teams is a gap of six points with four teams Plough, Fox Inn (Lye), Rose and Crown and Stourbridge FC all on sixteen points.

The Bell look all set to make it three consecutive championships in the Rowley Monday Night League, their latest 7-2 win away to White Swan keeping them top of the table with forty-two points having won twenty-one of their twenty-two fixtures which gives them a lead of four points over second placed Plough and Harrow who were held to a close 5-4 win by Gate Hangs Well. Hawthorns are third in the league their 6-3 home win over Rowley Labour Club keeping them within two points of Plough and Harrow and four ahead of fourth in the league Whiteheath Tavern who won 8-1 away to bottom of the table Huntingtree.      

On the individual scene there were maximums for H.Hopton and K.Hopton (White Swan), R.Kinsella (Bell), T.Jones (Tividale Sports) and M.Hall (Gate Hangs Well). L.Bowen (White Swan) had two 160 breaks while S.Price (Bell) broke with 152 and G.Edwards (Romsley Cricket Club) recorded a ten darts game.

With ten undefeated games under their belt Allen’s Bar have a six points lead at the top of the Black Country Men’s Super League after adding their latest 5-0 home success over Quarry Bank Liberal Club giving them a six points lead plus a game in hand on their nearest rivals Townsend ‘A’ who had a close 3-2 home win over middle of the table New Inn. Third in the league Dudley Ex Serviceman’s Club were anther team to hand out a 5-0 clean-sweep as they won at home against Townsend Social to give them a total of thirty-two points, six short of Townsend ‘A’ but with a game in hand.

Gemma Barrett added a further 3-1 win over Julie Emery to her account in the West Midlands Ladies Super League to keep her top of the table with sixty-four points from twenty-four games with a lead of six over second placed Jacqueline Maiden who handed out a straight 3-0 defeat to Crysta Davies-Wilcox and although she trails Gemma Barrett by six points she has three games in hand on her. Jackie Trott is third, her 3-1 win against Sam Rowley putting her on fifty-six points from twenty games.

Nick Fullwell and Reece Colley were the top two players in the Amblecote RBL Premier League but in week thirty-four they didn’t play and as a result in turn dropped to third and fourth in the table. Making a return to pole position is Dan Nicholls who beat Ryan Green 6-1 before losing 5-2 to Tom Bissell and then winning by the same 5-2 scoreline against Jack Pritchard to put him on 300 points from 56 games. Gavin Smith won 5-2 against Sam Page and 7-0 against Matt Halliday before losing 4-3 to Jamie Barrowman giving him second place with 290 points but from 57 games. Late entrant to the league Tom Bissell has been slowly playing catch-up and steadily climbing the table his latest fixtures seeing him first lose 5-2 to Shane Sheridan but then recovering to win 6-1 against Josh Wheeler, 7-0 against Steve Gillam, 5-2 against Dan Nicholls and 7-0 against Joe Poole to put him fifth in the table with 274 points from only 50 games..

It was a catch-up week in the Gilbert’s Bar Monday Night Singles League and with no game for division one leader Scott Baker he held on to the top spot with 196 points from 26 games. Dean Simmons-Fullwood moved up top second place on 174 points from 25 games after he was held to a 4-4 draw by Andrew Jervis.

The top two places remain the same in division two with Kurt Wright top on 171 points from 22 games and Alan Melling second with 164 from 24 games.

There was no change whatsoever in division three with Dave Thackeray way out in front with an unbeaten 25 games and 231 points, his nearest rival being Thomas Hollowood who has 209 points and has played 27 games.

Hotshots made it fourteen undefeated games in the singles division of the Wolverhampton Tuesday Night League when they won 5-2 at New Gate Inn ‘B’ to keep them two points ahead of second placed Junction ‘B’ who went one better with a 6-1 home win over Gilbert’s Bar ‘A’.

In the doubles division it’s Junction ‘B’ that lead the field making it fourteen straight wins when they won 3-0 at home against Gilbert’s Bar ‘A’ to keep intact their two points lead on their nearest rivals Hotshots who won 2-1 at New Gate Inn ‘B’.

Making their exit in the last eight were Chris Fox, Kevin Harris, Adam Thackray and Pete Thackray before the semi-finals in which Dan Astbury beat Andy Jervis 5-4 and Sam Aitkens won 5-3 against Brett Cooper, the losers receiving £15 each. The final saw Dan Astbury collect £80 as the 6-3 winner with Sam Aitkens oicking up £45.  

At the end of the day the event was all about raising funds for the Severn Hospice where Andy spent his last few weeks and a total of £236 was raised.
