Launch Season: Mission’s First Impression

Red Dragon Darts

MISSION darts have risen very quickly indeed and can now be counted amongst the major brands in darts after only 5 years or so in existence. DW’s equipment analyst looks at their latest offerings:

Now that the dust has settled on another Mission launch, I’ll be taking a look at the exciting new ranges available to purchase, and giving my first impressions on the darts and accessories released.

Madars Razma

A dart I was eagerly anticipating, the Razma’s certainly did not disappoint! They are a barrel providing an extremely high level of grip, achieved through the utilisation of horizontal cuts within the shark and razor ring grips – something I myself have used within my own custom darts!

Oskar Lukasiak

While one of the lesser known players featured within the launch, Lukasiak’s signature darts are nonetheless going to turn heads, with a striking design and colour scheme. A barrel drawing similarities from the original Red Dragon Seiya Asakura darts, the Lukasiak’s are sure to be a hit with those preferring a thicker alternative to a typical straight barrel.

George Killington

Quite a simplistic design when compared to the rest of the launch, but by no means a dart to overlook, the Killington’s are a dart many will be able to pick up and throw with little complications. A slightly longer-than-usual dart, coming in at 53mm, the Killington’s utilise a simple ring grip spread across the entirety of the barrel.

Thomas Banks

These are what I consider the flagship dart of the launch – the Thomas Banks darts are truly impressive. A continuation of the now discontinued Axiom range, the Banks’ darts are a near identical design, but with the black PVD coating. These are a dart I will be reviewing in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out on Darts World socials!

Torus 100/270

The popular Torus lighting systems have also received an update in the form of new colours, with the 270 range now available in blue, red, black, green, purple, bronze and silver! The 100 range are available in the same colours, minus bronze and silver, which remain exclusive to the 270.

Aurora

The Aurora dart features a striking design, with a coral PVD coating spanning the entirety of the barrel. Utilising a mixture of fine radial and horizontal cuts, Mission claim this is the most aggressive grip used on a dart within the launch. While a work of art to look at, I feel the thickness of the barrel will appear slightly unappealing to some players.

Celestial

Perhaps my second favourite dart from the launch, and my favourite non-player inclusion, the Celestial’s strongly remind me of a Nathan Aspinall and Leighton Rees barrel, with a torpedo barrel shape. Much like the Aurora’s, the Celestial’s are coral PVD coated, though only within the grooves.

Iridian

To me, the Iridian’s appear a more affordable alternative to the 97.5% tungsten Archon darts. A very similar style of barrel, though with a slightly ‘toned down’ style, with a more simplistic style of grip perhaps adding to the functionality of the barrels when compared to the Archon’s.

Yari

A completely different style of barrel than the three preceding darts in the launch, the Yari’s are seemingly inspired by the Hyperion darts released in the previous launch. Featuring a two-step design, with a raised central platform, these darts are seemingly tailored to a smaller niché in the consumer market than the rest of the launch.
