Following their fine 23-13 home win over Hampshire in the Cosmo Darts Premier Division of the UKDA National League, Warwickshire County Darts Organisation had an away fixture against Glamorgan who were lying just above them in the divisional table with 105 points from six games while Warwickshire were on 100 points from five games.
Saturday’s ladies ‘B’ game saw the away side go one up when Denise Keyte beat Jen Taylor 3-0, however the lead didn’t last long as Glamorgan won the next two games to go 2-1 up. Kacie O’Connor stopped the rot as she won 3-1 against Paula Randall and with a similar 3-1 win for Courtney Hine over Sophie Price, Warwickshire’s lead was restored.
Last on for Warwickshire was Nina Bolt, a straight 3-0 win for her against Sarah Teesdale not only earned her team mates a 4-2 win but with a 15.34 average she won the lady of the match award.
The Men’s ‘B’ stormed into an unbeatable 6-0 lead thanks to wins form Mark Strong, Karl Reynolds, Jnr Joyce, Mark Carter, Ryan Jackson and Taylor McGuckian and with further wins in the second half from Mark Martin and Dave Hill the game was won 8-4. Ryan Jackson was man of the match he had a straight 4-0 success over Colin Powell and averaged 30.36.
Taking a 12-6 lead into Sunday’s games the ladies ‘A’ finished all-square at 3-3 with wins from Wendy Adams Marian Conway and Hannah Meek, Hannah not only salvaged the draw in the final game, when she won 3-2 against Eve Watson, but earned herself the match award for her 20.63 average. The men’s ‘A’ required four winners for an overall victory for the weekend but that turned out to be no problem whatsoever as they romped to a 9-3 win.
The first four games were shared with Danny Lauby and Noel Grant Warwickshire’s two winners. From 2-2 Warwickshire then stormed into a match winning 9-2 lead with further wins from Sam Whittaker, Wayne Mynard, Jamie Hughes, Nigel Heydon, Steve Hine, Matty Washbrooke and Kevin Dowling, Steve Hine the man of the match with a 4-1 win over Dai Caller and superb 31.00 average.
With a 24-12 overall win for the weekend Warwickshire moved two places up the table to fifth with 127 points and although some sixteen points short of second placed Lancashire, they have a game in hand on three of the four teams above them.
