Darius Doubles Up as Evetts Rises to the Challenge

Play the Pro Darts Scorer

Darius Labanauskas made it a perfect weekend double on Saturday, whilst Ted Evetts was also victorious, with the pair winning Challenge Tour Events Eight & Nine respectively, as the second weekend of the PDC’s second tier tour season continued at Halle 39, Hildesheim.

Labanauskas, who was victorious at Friday’s Event Seven, went all the way once again as he reached the final firstly by recording victories against Andrea Micheletti, Ruben Mesters, Richard Wagenaar, Jurjen Van der Velde, Jacques Labre, Stefan Bellmont and Owen Maiden, to set up a clash with Former Grand Slam of Darts winner, Scott Waites.

The final began with three straight holds of throw between the pair, before the first break came from Waites in Leg Four with a 15 darter, before the Englishman pinned a 13 dart hold of throw to move 4-1 ahead and within one of victory.

Labanauskas then went on to produce a remarkable comeback, by ratting off four successive legs and surviving multiple match winning darts from Waites, with the Lithuanian sealing the victory in a last leg decider with a 17-dart break of throw to pick up back-to-back titles as well as a further £2,500 in prize money.

In Event Nine, Ted Evetts was victorious, with the Former World Youth Champion reaching the final firstly by recording victories against Colin Gibson, Marc Vleghert, Graham Hall, Ryan Palmer, Kevin Lankhuizen and Andreas Harrysson, to set up a clash with Germany’s Michel Unterbuchner.

The final began with Evetts racing into a 4-0 lead, with winning legs coming in 16, 14, 17 and 18 darts respectively, before Unterbuchner ended the run by picking up his first leg of the tie in Leg Five with a 13-dart break of throw.

This ultimately turned out to be the German’s only leg won in the tie, as ‘Super Ted’ sealed the victory in Leg Six with a 14 darter to pick up a third career Challenge Tour title as well as the £2,500 top prize.

The PDC Winmau Challenge Tour weekend concludes on Sunday with Event Ten taking place in Hildesheim, as play commences from 10:30 CET, with all live scores and results to be viewed at tv.dartconnect.com
