Baysal Blitzes Selsey Warm Up

Play The Pro Darts Scorer

Kaya Baysal wasted no time making himself the man to beat in Selsey, signing off the new Warm Up Darts Singles with a staggering 111.33 average in a 4-0 final win over Ryan O’Connor.

The Thursday-night event at the Seal Bay Resort was added to this year’s schedule as an early test and a post-journey loosener ahead of the England International Open, England Masters and England Classic, which get under way on Friday.

A darts statement from start to finish

Fresh off success on the PDC Development Tour, Baysal’s night began in the last 32, where he took Steven Inkpen apart 4-1 with a 105.75 average. A 4-0 whitewash of Ron Meulenkamp followed in the last 16 (92.49), before Ben Townley was dispatched 4-1 in the quarter finals (91.06).

The semi-final was the only real scare for the 16-year-old Turk. Vince Tipple pushed him all the way, taking the match to a deciding leg before Baysal edged through 4-3 with a 102.51 average. It was also the only time he dropped more than a single leg all evening. Across five matches, he conceded five in total.

Then came the final, and a performance that dwarfed everything else on the night. O’Connor managed to average 77.71 and never found a way into it. With legs of 15 darts, 12 darts, 13 darts and 14 darts. Baysal closed it out without reply.

The event sets the tone for a packed weekend of WDF ranking action in Selsey across the Open, Women’s, Youth and Girls categories, plus pairs and mixed triples.
